Hog Roasting in Turweston!

Turweston Airfield is not far from us and before doing a site visit I must admit I had never heard of it. I turned up several months before to convince the owner’s secretary that we could cater for the event. After adapting the menus and budget we had a deal.
Turweston is a typical airfield, windy and somewhat barren. The event on this occasion was a gathering of veteran car enthusiasts. The timings were perfect for a lie in. We left at 8.00 ensuring that we arrived at Turweston airfield before 9.00 .
As expected it was windy and it made sense to use all the weights we had. The only problem is that we had to start cooking straight away. It is far better not to leave anything to chance with such strong winds.
Fortunately all went well and we were kept abreast of the whereabouts of the drivers. They had started some ten miles away. At every ‘marker’ we were updated as to the safe arrival of all the drivers.

Everyone arrived on time, which made everything very easy. However it was time for speeches and presentations. This coincided with an air display by a slightly in-promptu display. One of the members had a an American Mustang that did some incredible acrobatics. The owner of the plane apparently had a Spitfire. We never found out whether it was a replica or the real thing.
What a day !
