A few weeks ago, Hog Roast Rothbury was contacted by a business representative, Leonie, who after reading lots of positive things about our services online, wanted to know if we could handle her company’s annual charity gala. It’s always an honour for us when we get invited along to such meaningful and potentially life-changing events. So, of course, we said yes!
But knowing that this event would be completely different from the ones that had been hosted in previous years, Leonie was keen to hear any advice we had on how to proceed. There to put the client’s mind at ease was our resident catering manager, who told her all about our new lockdown-appropriate measures, which ensures the safety of our staff and guests at all times.
Leonie was so relieved to hear all about our new PPE equipment, sanitation station and socially-distanced serving methods (to name but a few) which put her mind at complete rest ahead of the corporate celebration.
The menu Leonie had chosen for this function was based on our classic hog roast feast, which we have found is the perfect introduction to hog roasts for those new to the cooking method. Only this time, the client had opted for a few additional dishes to be served on the side.
For this year’s chosen charity, the company had decided to support a local hospice by raising as much in the way of vital funds and awareness as possible. News soon travelled fast that Hog Roast Rothbury would be the ones catering at the event, and with the company backing such an incredible cause, the tickets sold out fast.
Preparing for the midday serve, Hog Roast Rothbury arrived on site bright and early. This gave them more than enough time to whip up the generous portions of mixed fries, new potatoes in herb butter and creamy coleslaw sides which were centred by a show-stopping pig with homemade sage and onion stuffing and salted crackling.
The chafing dishes kept everything piping hot whilst the guests waited patiently for their turn to collect a plateful of grub, which immediately had their tastebuds tingling!
