It had been a while since our pre wedding meeting in January . However not a lot had changed with all the timings. Just the usual dietary updates , all something we have to be very careful of these days.
The venue was Didcot civic hall, needless to say in Didcot. It was a pleasant drive Woodstock , past Witney and on to Milton . The latter being a location we had done another evening wedding, Milton Hill hotel.
Didcot civic hall is probably the best location I have ever had the pleasure to work in. On arriving I liaised with the centre manager Jonathan who ex a quick tour. The hall was comfortably big with the largest kitchen ever. We could have catered for hundreds. There were loads of stainless tables, two cookers, fridges, dishwasher ! The best I’ve seen To cap it all we had full use. Our menu was simple enough . We had a hog roast, risolee potatoes and four salads. Thai noodles, Mediterranean vegetables on farfalle pasta in pesto, also tomato & red onion + feta with Greek basil and not forgetting Caesar salad. It was all a doddle in such a set up.
There was a large ‘ante room’ in which we could set up.
The wedding was at 3 and the wedding breakfast at 5. Everything was running a little behind ‘wedding wise’. However not a problem. The photographer had everything under control.
Service was pleasantly easy with guests coming up several times. Plenty for all.
The evening guests were due at 7.30, which soon came around. There was more food at 8.30. We were doing a selection of cheeses, bacon rolls and sauces + the usual leftovers which went well with the various pickles.
We finally got away at just after 9 and were soon back at base at 10 Great wedding and superb venue.
