Busy February, Hog Roast Oxford.

The last ten days have been slack but busy. The jobs have been only a couple but the bookings that have been coming in for the Spring and Summer have been keeping me busy. There have also been several site visits which have taken me to Oxford, Little Gaddesden and Immingham. The first was at Brasenose College which is right in the middle opposite the Radcliffe Camera. It is a college that I have been to many times, but always laden with suitcases and boxes. Both our daughters were under graduates there and so there are many happy memories. I met the students who were running the Summer Ball committee for the hog roast in Oxford and we ran through the logistics of feeding the thousand revelers from stations around the quadrangle lawned area. We have now added bacon sandwiches at 4.00am. We are still finalising the Hog Roast Oxford details and so hopefully not too far off signing off.

The next was a tasting for a possible wedding. Some colleagues of mine were due to head up this event but were sadly full. Of course I was more than happy to step in, although a little further than usual. It was a great meeting with discussions lasting over two hours and also tasting various canapes, salads and a vegetarian option. I must be a glutton for punishment. The next site visit was for 500 workers in an oil refinery.  As you might expect the event is not straight forward with great emphasis on training for all the various Health and safety aspects of working on a very dangerous site. Once I had met the Sodexo staff I had to watch the Health and safety video. We then walked the site to various options that might be suitable for cooking and serving. It was certainly very interesting and obviously made me aware of the dangers on site and the style required. Once again it is another proposal that is going to committee to be scrutinised. All exciting stuff and so let’s see where it all goes ..
