Well, when I get asked by Harry to do a Hog Roast I had to make sure that it was perfect. On this occasion it was for his step son’s birthday. Harry had asked for Spit Roasted Lamb and Spit Roasted Pork with artisan breads .
It seemed to make sense that Hog Roast Corby set off in good time, since being late is definitely not our policy. We were travelling to Barnet for 11.00 am set up. The journey was good and we arrived at 10.45. There was quick shuffling of cars so that we could set up on the driveway. We had been allocated a neat spot in the corner. As always I checked the lay of the land, timings, numbers and the menu. It is important to see what the main caterers are doing, they were providing salads and desserts, as well as a bar and staff. This was all part of a back hand favour. Harry runs Beyond Certainty www.beyondcertainty.com and this occasion the high end caterers of Food Show Ltd. http://www.foodshowltd.com/ were providing other bits.
Once all was on the go Hog Roast Corby ensured that all was suiting Harry’s needs. He is very particular that all looks correct, although it was a small party of about 40-50. As always he likes to provide additional souvlaki and halloumi kebabs.
Guests arrived a little ahead of schedule and we were soon asked to be at the ready. Both meats were cooked perfectly and despite the weather guests were eating on the patio and as is typical, coming back for more. There were some familiar faces and a great opportunity to chat and offer the usual banter. The leftovers were plentiful and were soon left in the kitchen alongside a multitude of Greek salads, taramasalata, breads and sumptuous homemade desserts. As with all the Greek events Hog Roast Corby were offered little food parcels of dessert pieces. So delicious and scrummy. I believe it is a custom to provide something for the onward journey.
Harry’s passing good bye was ‘. See you soon for another party’..
