This week I travelled to Weekley near Kettering. This meant a journey cross country to Silverstone and then up the A43 to the other side of Kettering. Marc was holding a small party for his three year old, but more importantly because he loves Hog Roasts. Marc is an American based over here for a while and works for USAF . It was therefore slightly unusual to have be catering for an American since most of our events are for Brits. The weather was slightly miserable, but I could tell that this was not going to dampen spirits. However I was slightly concerned that there was a bouncy castle to be put up in the rain. There was no need to be alarmed. There was a plan which involved putting up a rather large gazebo affair to house the inflatable bouncy castle.
I helped carry the bags of poles + rather large tarpaulin cover. I realised fairly soon that this was not a one man job. I naturally offered to help. That was fine but it started to rain. It was what I call ‘wet rain’. Basically we got soaked!! The other problem was that the instructions were not very precise/accurate. We had many attempts to put A to B etc. An hour later we had the structure in pieces back to where we had started. We were obviously not a couple to be beaten. We made another attempt, counting the poles, measuring the lengths. Eventually we cracked it and secure it to the ground and had the area covered. The inflating the bouncy castle was a lot easier. It was all in time for the guests arriving.
It was then my turn to serve to serve the Hog Roast in Weekley, which happened on time with everyone marvelling at how juicy the hog was.
Marc was particularly happy that there was plenty left over, enough to keep him going for days! Another successful Hog Roast event in Weekley.
