I had almost forgotten what it was like to start when everyone is tucked up in bed. However this was a venue that we had been to before in Arncott. We set off just after 4 with the other staff all on time. It was a good thing since there were foggy patches, making the journey to Arncott a cautious one. We often find that there is a lot of deer and various other fauna ambling the country lanes.
We were all set up by 6 since the serve time was early at 11.00 just as the guys were returning from an early start even before we arrived. The weather was kind and probably the start of Spring with just a light fog as two weather fronts collide signalling that change was on the way.
Once the hog was roasting it was time for an early morning cuppa. Always welcome after a quick drive and set up. Unfortunately this time had not brought breakfast for all !! I was not so popular in Arncott, but can’t win them all.
As always we helped set up the client’s little drink stall. It was one of those occasions that we had an extra person so that we could train him for future events.
Sure enough by the time we got to 11 we were ready to serve and even as early as 10.30 we were being asked if we could start ! We obliged, although a clever idea as it can start a stampede.
The service lasted a couple of hours with some of the lads coming up three and even four times. That when you know it is a success.
Well there was even talk of doing other depots. Now that makes it all worth while.
