Well there were plenty of emails before the event . It was therefore an event I certainly had the adrenaline going for. It was a straight through drive to Stockcross passing through Botley and turning off near Newbury. The village hall was all locked up, but we were early. We could see that the tables were all laid up, ready for the big day. We were met by the father of the Groom who seemed to have a lot of wine. We set up the hog roast Stockcross in the corner of the car park, an area that we are very used to setting up in. It meant that we had an easy access to the kitchen area at the back. Perfect! Once we had run through plans and started our lay up it was time to put the hog roast Stockcross on. Fortunately it looked as if the weather was going to be kind, which always makes life easier. Today’s menu also had desserts a lemon tart and also fresh strawberries all served with lashings of whipped cream. Delicious!!
The family had also added an evening buffet, which was due for 6.30 pm. And so once was all clear from the wedding breakfast we started on the evening food. Fortunately everything was on disposables which makes it easier, since you are not working on top of each other. The mother of the bride seemed very pleased and told us how we had made their day. She even tipped the staff for all their hard work which always brings a smile to their faces. ‘A happy worker is a productive worker’ I was once told. It all helps to make the day go by and just slightly more enjoyable. I guess it’s always a good sign when I get a kiss from the bride and the mother of the bride. A hand shake from the Groom!
