The run into Christmas was full of Christmas cheer. It’s perhaps a sign of how times have changed and the economy has picked up.
We had various events during December. It was off to Brackley on 23rd December for a lovely pre-Christmas party with mulled wine, mince pies and the usual delicious hog roast. There was over 80 guests and as the word got around there were just a few more.
The village of Brackley is very quiet and the setting was very relaxed and in a marquee making cooking very relaxed with little wind to worry about. Cooking in the marquee was a bonus in that it heated it up nicely. The food was a wonderful combination of guests supplying a few salads and a wide selection of desserts. They all looked very yummy.
The party was to follow a blessing that was held in the local church, of course for hog roast Brackley this wasn’t a problem. It was wonderfully chilled and relaxed. The wedding was held earlier in the year. The serve was welcomed by about twenty children who formed a very orderly queue. There were all the usual questions of what’s it called, how long did it take to cook. I am afraid all the answers were joyfully given. It was all good fun and everyone was having a fab time. The icing on the cake was that we were able to depart in time for a glass of Champagne at midnight in the comfort of our own home, although we were politely offered, in fact actively encouraged to stay. They must have liked us!
