We all remember the excitement of an event happening after school, getting the chance to spend time with your classmates outside of the structure of lessons or breaks and that is exactly what the pupils of St Edwards School got to experience last Friday. The staff finally got a chance to relax and everyone came together away from the usual routine of the school day. Hog Roast Oxford were proud to be a part of such a memorable evening event. With 90 guests attending, the event brought together pupils and staff for a relaxed evening filled with good food, conversation and plenty of laughter. Our friendly catering manager Craig and the Hog Roast Oxford team arrived on site, ready to serve from 8pm, transforming the school grounds into the perfect setting for an evening celebration. Events like this are always enjoyable to cater because there’s such a welcoming and social atmosphere from the moment guests arrive.
At the centre of the menu was our whole roasted pig, served with traditional favorites such as crispy crackling, sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and a selection of bread rolls and wraps, including gluten free options on request. As soon as the serving area was open to the guests, the atmosphere became alive with conversation as guests tucked into generous rolls and went back for seconds and some people even had thirds!
Of course, we know how important it is to cater for everyone attending an event, which is why we always provide a range of vegetarian and vegan options which were just as popular throughout the evening. Guests could choose from grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers served with wraps, tzatziki dip and sweet chilli sauce, while the vegan pulled jackfruit in hickory BBQ sauce proved to be another firm favourite. Having a menu that gives everyone something to look forward to always helps create a better atmosphere at events like this one.
One of the best things about catering school functions is seeing how food naturally brings people together. Staff and pupils spent the evening socialising and making the most of a rare opportunity to enjoy time together outside the classroom environment.
