Charlie and Rosa first enquired about us possibly catering at their wedding several months ago. The couple were planning an informal and relaxed affair, which seems to be fairly popular these days. If you’ve ever been to a wedding where you were confined to your seats for several courses and long speeches, then you’ll understand why. Plus when small children are invited, it can often be a real hassle for parents to ensure they remain in their seats for a long time, too.
Additionally, the bride and groom may simply prefer an alternative to the traditional sit-down meal, even when the wedding and reception themselves are formal. At The Spitting Pig, we encourage the bride and groom-to-be to discuss with us exactly what they want on their special day, so that we can help make that dream become a reality. This could be from choosing us to cater for you with one of our select menus to creating your own bespoke menu to suit your tastes. Whatever the occasion you have in mind, we can offer full catering packages to include canapés, starters, main dishes and desserts or a more simple menu like just a starter and some hog roast rolls.
Charlie and Rosa decided on several courses but preferred for their guests to serve themselves at their own pace rather than having to wait to be served by waiters at their tables. This would mean several tables for the cold starters and desserts to be laid out in preparation and then covered, with a server handing them out as requested, although the warm canapés could still be served first by waiters as the guests arrived. The couple wanted the spectacle of a hog roast in North Marston, but for guests to decide when to eat throughout the evening, and as it stays hot for a long time, this also wasn’t an issue. Throughout the wedding reception, guests happily took their time choosing their food – some ate upon arrival and others waited for night to fall before venturing to the tables and our marquee.
