One of the things we have always enjoyed at Hog Roast Thame about catering for weddings is it affords us the opportunity to come out to some really great venues – filled of course with equally excellent and wonderful guests! This week our adventures took us to the Spread Eagle Hotel in the heart of Thame. This extraordinary 15th century venue offer boutique, timeless charm, which works just perfectly paired against our timeless hog roasts with a rustic and hearty charm.
It was a wedding that right away was washed in tradition. Between the venue and our traditional roast dining, it was already going to be an experience rife with traditional charm and style. That style was carried forward by our lovely bride and groom, Jonathan and Estelle, who looked just excellent as they celebrated their special day surrounded by their favourite people in life – all 160 of them! To ensure that every one of those 160 – including Jonathan and Estelle – were well fed and fuelled for a night of dancing and revelry, our head chef Craig was on hand cooking up our famed hog roast dining experience.
If the Spread Eagle is famed for its traditional charm, Hog Roast Thame are most definitely famed for this authentically made pork roast. Like our venue, we like to take things back and steep ourselves in total tradition. That is why we prefer to cook our roasts in the authentic spit style where possible. It achieves a flavour and texture that you just do not get in a regular oven roast, and that’s not to mention the added style and novelty of cooking in this traditional fashion. It always looks impressive at the heart of a wedding event – all the more so when the backdrop is as luxurious and traditional as this!
Guests tucked into their hog roasts with an accompaniment of gourmet sausages, crispy crackling, sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce, fresh fries, salads and slaws. Hearty dining for a hearty venue and occasion! Our thanks to Estelle and Jonathan for choosing Hog Roast Thame for their special day, and to the Spread Eagle for being such a great venue to work in!
